THE THINK-OUTSIDE-THE-BOX STORYTELLER

I AM DESIGNED TO AMPLIFY NEW STORIES, PROJECT NEW IDEAS, AND CHANGE THE CONVERSATION. I BELIEVE STRONGLY IN THE POWER OF COLLABORATION.

I BET YOU ARE WONDERING WHAT MY “TYPE” IS. ME TOO!

I don’t ~look~ like “this” or “that”, and I’m SO MUCH more than a I-can-memorize-these-lines-and-say-them-good actor. I’m the perfect supporting character, the BEST best friend you’ll find, The Star to your Barb, The Ilana to your Abbi. I’m a DAMN GOOD storyteller. I’m a fan-fucking-tastic collaborator. I want to hear all of your ideas. I’m your Everything Artist. Your go-to gal. I bet I’m exactly what you’re looking for.

(But if I had to try and pick, I’m Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson meets Kristin Wig’s body, but also somehow Taika Waititi is involved, and when I get older I’ll be a Allison Janey and Toni Collette kind of situation, probably. Yeah, something like that.)

I want to be part of creating stories from the ground up. I want to work on anything FUN, BOLD, LOUD, FRESH, NEW, and is a story worth telling.

I am motivated by risk-taking, thoughtful exploration, and honesty in the moment. AND I DO IT ALL WITH A HUGE OPEN HEART.

I’m an incredible problem solver with a diverse skill set that I use to approach a project from all angles. When exploring a character, I leave a lot of exploration up to the moment and the script analysis. I come up with at least four different ways to approach a scene. I’m extremely adaptable and moldable for the sake of storytelling.

PROJECTS THAT SHAPED ME

JOURNALISTS THEATRE CO.

I am a founding ensemble member and Director of Artistic Relations of The Journalists Theatre Co. We provide perspective and informed experience to influence the creation of new & invigorated theatre based in research and exploration.

Our first show was Bodies, a series of vignettes written, devised, and performed by the ensemble. It started with a Viewpoints devising exercise focused on body image. It sparked a thought. A slew of stories were written from there about human beings who were told to be ashamed of these extra inches or those crooked things about their bodies.

My piece was a three part solo performance on how anxiety controlled my life. A movement piece based on a voice over monologue series that described simply the daily life I live in a body that is controlled by the perils of my existence. Constant dread over every meaningless, inconsequential decision that I make.

Simultaneously, I devised a movement piece with another ensemble member in which we told an anti love story – two people who can’t seem to quit each other, and love each other so much, but just keep letting each other down.

EMIT THEATRE COMPANY: ROMEO & JULIET

I had the honor and privilege of being a part of the 2019 production of Immersive Romeo and Juliet with EMIT Theatre Company, a group that strives to make classical theatre accessible and exciting for younger audiences.

I was initially the understudy track for their performances and had the chance to go on as Paris for the final few performances. Where most people play Paris instinctually “creepy” and overbearing of Juliet, I found a Paris that was so adoring of her, and not in an irritating way, but a genuinely endearing friend to her. My director told me to think of an activity to do with the kids when I wasn’t “on stage” and my activity was friendship bracelets. This truly influenced how I presented the character when the kids were able to ask me questions. I even had a crowd during each production that was “Team Paris”.

It was easy to instinctually play Paris with a grit and bite, wanting to make him unlikeable in support of our main character who loved Romeo, and to push the audience towards wanting the protagonists to have a happy ending together. However, having the audience see that both of her options were good choices made for a new and refreshed look at the story, and proves that most decisions in life are not always so easy.
